Our mission at the Noetic Medicine Institute (NMI) is to humanize healthcare by scientifically affirming MIND MATTERS.  The beliefs and ideas of health care professionals (HCPs) and patients can and do have profound impacts on health and healing.

 

We are dedicated to the discovery and dissemination of information on the interactions of MIND and BODY through groundbreaking research, healthcare worker training and certification, and multi-media public outreach. Through this work, we will demonstrate that the words and gestures of healthcare practitioners have a profound influence on health and healing, and that the ideas and mental states of patients also influence health outcomes.

 

Modern materialistic medicine ignores our most human qualities - our ideas and mental states, our intentions, wishes, and attachments. To material scientists WE ARE nothing more than cells and molecules. It is this cold, materialistic outlook that dehumanizes both patients and healthcare practitioners. It encourages HCPs to hurry through their encounters and often misspeak. But every patient knows intuitively that the words of their caregiver can harm or heal.

 

Our success at NMI will translate into positive effects during each and every patient-healthcare practitioner encounter – changing for the better the way in which patients and HPCs interact. Patients will feel empowered to share their thoughts and feelings, and they will learn to monitor and modify their mental states in ways that support health and healing. Practitioners will understand that their words matter, because MIND MATTERS – and so, every conversation with their patients will be delivered with the same care and caution as the other potent treatments they dispense. Through NMI's rigorous teaching and training programs, healthcare practitioners will become fully empowered to enlist and support their patients’ innate healing capacities.
